r/DevilMayCry and DMC pro players hosting a 17 hour cancer charity drive live stream tomorrow, Capcom USA to contribute with 3 hours of DMC5 play
r/DevilMayCry will be hosting a 17 or so hour cancer charity drive live stream tomorrow, in collaboration with Capcom USA.
Some background: Back in October, the Devil May Cry subreddit hosted a 12 hour cancer charity drive live stream in collaboration with MIBAgents, in memory of DMC and Smash Bros. fan Chris Taylor, who had passed away after a battle with osteosarcoma. Some might read or heard about Chris on social media after his plight to Capcom and Nintendo to play DMC5 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, before he fully succumbed to his illness, was doing the rounds on social media.
The stream was hosted by several DMC YouTubers and streamers, as well as r/DevilMayCry moderators. They did giveaways of DMC5 as well as other items. They were also briefly joined by Vergil's voice and mocap actor Dan Southworth, who personally contributed additional items for donation.
The stream ended up doing really well. The initial donation goal was $1000, but they ended up smashing that with $10K in donations by the end!
Tomorrow, they're doing a second event, again with MIBAgents and several of the same hosts, but this time also with new hosts, and collaborating with Capcom USA, who will themselves be streaming DMC5 as part of the event:
Now, I'm not directly involved in any way, but I'm a moderator of the Era-affiliated DMC discord and I briefly promoted the last stream, and thought I should do the same again, with a little bit more heads-up for interested parties. I hope people will be able to stop by to watch the stream and support a good cause.
