PS4: Dynamic 1080p at 30fps (972p common)
PS4 Pro:
Quality Mode: Dynamic 1080p at 30fps (972p common)
FPS Mode: Dynamic 900p at ~50fps (900p common)
PS5:
Quality Mode: Dynamic 4K at 30fps (1872p common)
FPS Mode: Dynamic 1800p at 60fps (1800p common)
ONE: 720p at 30fps
ONEX: 1440p at 30fps
Series S:
Quality Mode: 1440p at 30fps
FPS Mode: 1080p at 60fps
Series X:
Quality Mode: Dynamic 4K (1872p common) at 30fps &
FPS Mode: Dynamic 1800p at 60fps (1800p common)
Switch: 648p at 30fps (Dock & Handheld)
- I must say it's the comparison with the strangest results that I have ever done and that does not speak well of the work done in this game.
- The quality mode has the function of improving shadows, reflections and ambient occlusion.
- Incomprehensibly, PS5 has shorter drawing distance in shadows and worse reflections in quality mode compared to performance mode.
- Xbox One X has no performance mode.
- Series X has a slightly higher average resolution in performance mode compared to PS5.
- PS5 and Series X have a slightly better draw distance than other versions, but it is still very low.
- The draw distance is even lower on Switch.
- The performance mode versions of the Xbox Series S/X and PS4 Pro show some lighting issues in closed environments.
- Only Nextgen versions have clouds.
- The game reuses the same animations, physics and AI from the original game.
- Shadows cast by artificial lights are non-existent on Switch.
- The quality of the textures is exactly the same in all versions except Switch, which is lower. Some textures have their UV applied wrong.
- I have encountered some sound issues on Xbox One.
- The design of some zones varies depending on the version. I do not know the reason for this decision, but the Xbox versions have more elements (especially indoors).
- Loading times are better optimized on Xbox consoles.
- Xbox One and Switch have serious framerate problems with drops below 25fps. I advise against playing these versions.
- Xbox Series S/X in performance mode are the only versions with a decent framerate. The rest suffer constant falls or stuttering.
- It is a pity that a trilogy so valued and loved by the community has received this result. I hope Rockstar is aware of it and works hard to improve it.
